If you’re planning a holiday with your four-legged friend or you’re a local with a hankering for some “Ono” eats with your ‘Īlio (dog), then we’ve got the pawpular dog friendly restaurants where wet noses are welcome!

1. Brasserie Du Vin – 1115 Bethel Street, Honolulu (map), 808-545-1115

Experience a bit of gay Paree nestled in Honolulu! Yelp reviewer Mandie C. says, “I really like this place.  I like it for many reasons!  Number one reason, the food is really good. Number two reason, it’s dog friendly. Number three reason, lots of great wine.” Small dogs are allowed in the patio area of this popular French restaurant. 2. Seiji Brew Garden & Sushi 75-5699 Alii Drive, Kailua Kona (map), 808-329-7278

This eatery’s chef  Seiji catered the 1974 Japanese reception for Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 crew, according to the website. Yelp reviewer Sutra L. says, “We love hanging out on the Lanai at the casual-chic and dog friendly Seiji’s! The amazing food and commitment to supporting local business’ – Seiji’s is the ideal place to chill Kona style with your canine and friends!” So be sure to stop by for fresh sushi and other delicious Japanese dishes with your pooch.

3. Kanaka Kava 75-5803 Alii Drive, Space B6, Kailua-Kona (map), 866-327-1660

This mom-and-pop health drink spot features the Kava, or Hawaiian Awa, which is a natural antidepressant and relaxant. It is made from the root of a species of pepper plant known as Awa that  has been used by people indigenous to the South Pacific for over 3,000 years, according to their site. Yelp reviewer E.H. says, “Cozy and very very relaxing.  Service is very friendly and a lot of the customers are locals. You can hear them talking about their daily lives and play with their dogs.” If you’re looking for tasty local dishes and are brave enough to try the Kava, sniff them out!
