There’s nothing quite like the refreshing cocktail here and there, which is made all the more better if your four-legged best friend can be there with you! Here are a few town taverns that welcome wet noses and wagging tails in this city. So grab your pooch, pack your stein and hit the road to one of these dog friendly bars!

1. Brendan Behan Pub – 378 Centre Street, Jamaica Plains (map), 617-522-5386

This pawpular bar has won the title of the best Irish pub in Boston four times, and it was also named Boston’s best watering hole by the Sunday Tribune in Ireland, according to the pub’s site. Yelp reviewer Don W. says, “If you want your faithful hound to join you at a friendly and laid-back pub, you won’t do better than here.” Check out some of the happy pub pooches here.

2. The Liberty Hotel 215 Charles Street, Boston (map), 617-224-4000

This pawsh hotel hosts a Yappy Hour every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. its own back “Yard.” There are no size restrictions so any pooches from Irish Wolfhounds to Chihuahuas can join the festivities and there is no entrance fee. 3. Salty Dog Seafood Grille & Bar 206 Faneuil Hall Market Place, Boston (map), 617-742-2094

This marine eatery features palate pleasers such as lobster rolls and oyster shooters for famished pet parents. Relax and people watch with your own “salty dog,” and enjoy a cold mug of beer and a cold bowl of water for Fido. Yelp reviewer Alex S. said, “Our server was A+ and took care of us, finding us a great spot in the shade for both us and my poor hot dog. They then brought her water – first in a tiny paper container, then in a giant clam chowder take away container.”
